Hire Me – Photographer, Videographer & Content Creator (Derby)

Me and my rescue girls before Athena
Hello, and thanks for stopping by. I’m a friendly, down-to-earth photographer and videographer based in Derby.
I started in the days of film and darkrooms, and over the years I’ve covered a wide range of styles, including fashion, weddings, portraits, pets, products, advertising and events, both on location and in studio.
I’m currently looking for part-time roles with local studios and photography businesses (open to full-time discussions), and I’m also available to deliver complete photo + video + website packages for clients.

How I Work
Friendly, punctual and collaborative. I’m happy to follow a lead photographer’s brief, liaise with coordinators, and keep things running smoothly on the day. I’m also comfortable taking the reins when needed, and I’m used to working with tight timelines, changing light and real-world conditions.

Need the Complete Package?
If you’re a business or client who wants everything in one place, I can plan and deliver the photography, shoot and edit the video, and build the website to present it, including hosting and ongoing updates.
Helping Businesses Grow
As well as working on photography and video, I’m especially interested in working with new and startup businesses. Getting established can be a challenge, and I can help by producing the essentials; your website, your photography, and your video content so you have a strong, professional online presence right from the start.
I’m also keen to work with existing businesses who want to expand into today’s fast-changing world of AI and media. Whether it’s creating fresh visual content, building new sections of a website, or developing media that blends traditional skills with AI tools, I can help you strengthen and modernise your content.
The Film Days
This gallery is a little throwback to my earlier career, when everything was shot on film. Much of it I processed and printed myself, which is why you might notice the odd hair, scratch or mark here and there.
Back then, every shot really mattered. Film and processing were expensive and time-consuming, so there was no room for waste. No fancy camera trickery, no fast autofocus, no auto this and auto that. Just a light meter, manual exposure, and careful focusing.
I used a whole mix of cameras on the way: Zenith, Praktica, Fuji, Minolta, and eventually reached my pride and joy, the Canon T90. I also worked with medium format, mainly a Bronica 645 ETRSi. Doing weddings with gear like that was a true test of skill: 15 frames on a medium format roll or 36 on 35mm meant you had to compose carefully and get it right the first time. No “spray and pray” with 25,000 digital shots and deleting 24,800 of them later!
Of course, I’ve since moved with the times and joined the digital gang, and now I’m also embracing AI, learning how to use it as part of my workflow going forward. That said, the gallery below is deliberately all “real” photography: actual client work, scanned from the original prints, all created before AI even existed.
Why show this? Because today anyone can generate incredible images with AI, even without any photographic ability. That’s the world we’re in now, and in some ways it makes traditional photography feel almost redundant. But I want to show that I can actually take real photos. I know lighting, composition, the discipline of film.
So while I’m excited to grow with the trends and make use of AI when it helps, this gallery is simply proof of my foundation: pure photography, done the old-school way:
